Slovin & Associates Donates Resources for Troubled Youth in Need

CINCINNATI, OH — Slovin & Associates continued their support
over the holiday season for a vulnerable and marginalized group of at-risk
youth in their community — unhoused or underhoused teenagers. The firm
contributed gift cards and hoodies to the
Lighthouse Youth & Family Services organization, which were given as Christmas gifts to youth
receiving services at the LYFS facility.

Ending Youth Homelessness

Lighthouse offers an integrated system of care for ages 0-24
designed to guide and track their progress over time. This includes mental
health services, including same-day assessments, as well as youth housing,
emergency shelter, community juvenile justice services, residential treatment,
and foster care and adoption.

A national leader in developing services for youth and families,
Lighthouse opened the first group home for girls in Ohio and has operated the
first and only sanctuary for youth ages 10-17 in the Cincinnati area since 1974.
Lighthouse is also a pioneer in the effort to end youth homelessness and is the
lead agency in the KEYS to a Future Without Youth Homelessness initiative in
Hamilton County.

According to the Greater Cincinnati Homeless Coalition, an estimated 3.5 million Americans experience homelessness every
year, and 1.35 million American children will experience homelessness this
year. Health Care Access Now reports that
over 8,000 children in Cincinnati experience homelessness each
year
, with the average person experiencing
homelessness just 9 years old. As affordable housing continues to disappear,
the value of minimum wage drops, and a recession looms, the issue won’t go away
anytime soon.

Supporting Vulnerable Populations

Slovin & Associates is passionate about contributing to local
solutions geared toward caring for the needs of the next generation. Along with
homelessness comes the need for trauma-informed physical and mental health
care, as shelter is generally just one piece of the puzzle in meeting the
greater needs at stake for the future of at-risk youth. The firm considers it a
privilege to help meet these needs and looks forward to being a community
supporter in 2023.
